The team of scientists from the Moscow-based National Center for Natural Resources has discovered a large tree in the Komiakos Mountains that is said to be an ancient, sacred tree.
The tree was planted on September 20, and the team is now attempting to identify its origins.
The discovery was made by researchers who used an advanced digital imaging system to photograph the tree with a Nikon D800 camera.
The Russian Institute of Forest Research, who was also part of the team, said that the tree was about 20 meters tall, and weighed between 2.2 and 2.7 tons.
The researchers said that their work could lead to the discovery of new species, new species of forests, new forests in other regions of Russia, and other places around the world.
